Day Courses

A series of one day workshops are planned for 2022.
All of a minimum of 6 hours duration at various venues.
They cost £60 per person.


 Your Tutor ; - Steve Lovell has been hooked on nature all of his life from childhood fishing sessions and cycle rides to owning his first pair of binoculars. 

He has an outdoor background of Wildlife Garden Design and Construction, also having qualified as an Adult Education Tutor, he worked for the RSPB and eventually set up Greenspaces Nature in 2016 showing clients the best of British nature in Lincolnshire and beyond.

IMPROVE YOUR BIRDWATCHING with GREENSPACES NATURE


Level - Beginner to Intermediate

Whether you are a beginner or an intermediate, birdwatching is a great way to connect with nature. This course will add to your range of skills with instruction initially inside with majority of learning taking place outside. 

COURSE CONTENT

We will look at the following ;-

Choice of and using optical equipment, bird families, the range of habitats, songs and calls, migration and a host of other topics linked into this fascinating hobby.

LOCATIONS

Various sites around Lincoln to cover a variety of habitats and species. We will visit these sites, have a gentle stroll, observe and evaluate what and why those species are there.

OTHER INFORMATION

A group size up to a maximum of 8, personal teaching time with one-to-one instruction, optics available to use for free, learning that is fun and inclusive, a notepad to record sightings and all learning outcomes.


DURATION AND COST
The course will run over 6 weeks on the following dates
 - 21st and 28th March, 4th 11th 18th April, 2nd May 2024 all of 3 hour duration lasting from 10am to 1pm.
Cost is £180 which equates to £30 per session.

For every person booking on this course we will make a donation of 5% to the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust Nature Recovery fund.

Birds of the Wash


Venue - Coastal Lincolnshire . 
Level - Beginners to Intermediates. 

Time ;- 9am to 5pm approximately . 

Topics covered ;- Bird ID , Plumage Habitat and Behaviour .

STRUCTURE OF THE DAY - We will visit a named location at the Lincolnshire coast , taking time to observe and study behaviour . Waders , waterfowl and Birds of prey will be our main focus . Tuition can be given on optical equipment to enable you to get the most from your own equipment .

WHAT IS PROVIDED - Transport for the day from and back to our starting point . Refreshments and a light picnic lunch. A list to record your sightings and observations.

LEVEL ; - General Interest . 

TOPICS COVERED ;- Garden structure , connectivity , habitats and habitat boosters , species , creation and management of habitats.
STUCTURE OF THE DAY ;- It will be split down into the modules for this course offering practical advice and guidance so that the basic principles can be applied to the students own site . Some handouts will be given but students will take as much or as little as they want away from the day .
WHAT IS PROVIDED ;- Tuition , advice , refreshments and a light lunch and a momento of the day .

Wildflower ID Workshop

Ever wondered what that wildflower is and wondered why it is growing ‘there’
On this workshop we will explore some of Lincolnshire’s protected verges , wildflower meadows and other botanically rich areas .
It will help you sort out your Vetches from your Valerians !


Using reference books, looking at soil types and habitats we will work to give you a better understanding of what is growing where and why!

We will also squeeze in a little time to observe and recognise any wildlife that crosses our path.

Meeting at a central meeting place , you will be transported to the various locations with a Taste of Lincolnshire picnic lunch provided.

It will be a full day session all you will need to bring along is your camera , notepad , pencil, crayons and a sense of enthusiasm and exploration.

Terms and Conditions

Bookings

When you make a booking you guarantee that you have the authority to make that booking be it for yourself or any other person

The reservation is confirmed once booking form and deposit has been received and confirmed by Greenspaces the contract will exist once we issue such confirmation

Deposits / Balance Payments

Deposits/balance payments payment can be made by

1. Cash

2. Cheque

3. BACS transfer

Deposits - £15 for Day Trips/ 10% for Town and Mini Breaks.

Balance is payable in full 28 days prior to commencement of a tour. The balance for a day trip is payable seven days prior to the date of the trip. 

Cancellations / Refunds

In case of cancellation by the clients all deposits are non refundable once the booking has been confirmed except under exceptional circumstances.  The client may transfer a confirmed booking to an alternative trip/tour at the discretion of Greenspaces.

If for any reason Greenspaces cancel a trip or tour a full refund will be given.

Tour Policy / Participation

Small group size is a feature of our policy and places are allocated on a first come/first served basis. We reserve the right to decline any booking without stating the reason and also terminate the participation of any client unable or unwilling to conduct themselves in a satisfactory manner within the trip/tour/Course and the specifics of the trip or tour.

Disclaimer

Green spaces cannot be held responsible for any loss, damage to or theft of personal belongings or for any illness, injury or accident which may occur during a tour/daytrip/course unless proven to be caused by the actions of Greenspaces.

We ask our clients to take all sensible precautions and exercise appropriate thought and care at all times. All clients should hold a suitable holiday/household insurance for all valuables.
